From October of this year, smoking in cars with passengers in will be illegal. This law passed the Parliamentary vote with little opposition. However this is a really useful article as it references two differing pressure groups on opposing sides of this debate – the British Lung Foundation on one side, and FOREST on the other. FOREST have hit the headlines before, being critics of the smoking ban and the pressure group ASH. However they are a really useful example of how your power as a pressure group can be limited when you find yourself on the wrong side of public opinion, of government opinion and with powerful pressure groups opposing you.
