Labour’s Pink Bus

The Labour Party has unveiled a ‘pink bus’ and a manifesto for women to try to appeal to female voters, and to raise the number of their MPs elected in the next election to over 50% female. This is a really useful example of party politics and manifestos with an upcoming election. It is also important with a view to functional/descriptive representation – making Parliament look more like the society that it represents. The lack of women and minority groups in Parliament currently is widely noted and this is clearly one way that the Labour Party are looking to remedy this.
