Wastefulness of the Federal Bureaucracy

One of the problems commonly associated with the Federal Bureaucracy in the US is it’s wastefulness. This is an outstanding piece of evidence, especially for a part of the course that often lacks evidence, to show just how wasteful – a $486 million air fleet bought for the Afghanistan war has been sold for scrap for £32,000. This should provide a useful argument for the difficulties a president may face in controlling the bureaucracy and the problem that cabinet departments have when fighting for money!
