The Labour Party and Policy

As the Labour Party Conference draws to a close, it is worth reflecting on the policies put forward. The Party will have been ‘road-testing’ these policies to be included in their manifesto in the coming General Election and the reception they get, both at the Conference and in the media, will be crucial to shaping this. To that end, it is worth looking at this article, in which Miliband talks about finding more money for the NHS, and thinking about what these policies say about the modern Labour Party under the leadership of Ed Miliband. Many students struggle with party policy questions in the exam as they simply do not have up to date policy ideas (relying instead on old and out of date party ideology). With this conference finishing today, and the Conservative one starting at the weekend, there should be plenty of evidence for such a question.
