Hispanics are increasingly frustrated with Obama’s lack of progress on providing the promised immigration reform of recent years and this article reflects that. It is interesting however that one of the given reasons for this is that, due a quirk of the map in 2014 and the seats that are actually up, the Hispanic population will actually have only a limited impact on this election. While this is not true in future elections, it does somewhat reduce their power in this one and go someway to explaining Obama’s silence.

This article about the 2016 election however shows that they will be much more important in electing the next president – this may require some action from Obama, especially if the Democrats are to retain the White House.
