There is evidence emerging that the raucous nature of PMQs puts female MPs off from attending. This could be used as evidence for two different topics – looking at the functional representation of women in the HoC with only 22% of the House currently being female, and looking at the ineffectiveness of PMQs as a tool to hold the Government to account. The Parliament topic in Unit 2 constantly assesses Parliament’s effectiveness at scrutinising the Government (and you must must must not confuse Govt. and Parl. here!!!) and this gives great evidence towards the power being with the Government rather than with Parliament.
