Making a start on the Crimea

The issue of the Crimea looks set to rumble on, and there is no desire to flood this blog with posts on the same topics over and over. However, with exams pending it is worth noting that this is a useful example of President and Foreign Policy (Truman’s, ‘I control Foreign Policy’), as well as potentially the imperial/imperilled presidency. This article looks at the sanctions that Obama has looked to now place on Russia following the incident in the Crimea. The really useful thing about this example is that you could use it for either side of the argument – Obama is strong as he is placing sanctions, or that the sanctions seem to be limited and, so far, ineffective…
