Politics and demographics: The rise of the single mother

3 June 2013 – Single mothers give presidential politics a new perspective

Eyes are already firmly turned towards the 2016 election and this article is no exception. Single mothers now apparently make up 1 in 4 households with under 18 children and are therefore considerable fodder for the next election. This article briefly explores the importance of this, and a few other demographic groups, to the 2016 campaign and would be useful exam examples for essays on who votes for which party and why.
