Parliamentary Scrutiny – the PAC

14 May 13 – Defence equipment budget ‘may be unaffordable’

Often, examples of scrutiny are of scrutiny that takes place AFTER something has happened, for example the West Coast Mainline fiasco. However, this is a good example of preemptive scrutiny; the PAC have looked at the projected spending of the Ministry of Defence and said that it does not appear that it will be affordable. A good example of Parliament fulfilling it scrutinising role.
